Student’s team from faculty of Architecture in Belgrade, Serbia have made an outstanding accomplishment by entering the Solar Decathlon Middle East 2018 finals.
Alongside 20 other teams they will get an opportunity to actually build their solar pavillion next year in Dubai.
SDME – Solar Decathlon is a prestigious multidisciplinary competition originated in the USA at the beginning of the XXI century, which later gained an international significance. The university teams from all over the world build their energy efficient life-size houses and compete in 10 disciplines surpassing various aspects of both contemporary and innovative approaches to sustainable building. The main goal of the competition is to raise the awareness about the importance of energy efficient and bioclimatic aspects of designing.
A student team from Faculty of Architecture at the University of Belgade, with the help of their fellow students from other technical faculties, has made an extaordinary success by getting among the 21 teams which will have a chance to carry out their architectural designs/projects of solar pavilions at the international competition Solar Decathlon Middle East 2018 in Dubai (UAE). This is the first time that the solar decathlon has been organised in the Middle East, and also the first time that Serbia has its representative.
Teams that will be part of the competition in Dubai in 2018. were presented at the World Green Economy Summit (WGES 2016). Our team representative, and the author of the pavillion idea desing, Nemanja Brzakovic, student of the final master course at the Faculty of Architecture University of Belgrade, took place in this event.
